What we would tell you in the studio

  • Crew neckline and top. The top has a bound round crewneck that sits flat against the collarbone. Its body drops in a straight line to the hip without clinging or flaring, working on its own or layered under a coat.
  • Waistband and wide leg. The trousers feature an elasticated waistband with an adjustable drawstring for a secure fit at the waist. Below the band, the knit falls straight down into a wide-cut leg with a relaxed hem.
  • Sleeve and shoulder line. Long sleeves follow the arm down to a clean, unribbed hem at the wrist. The shoulder seam sits naturally, allowing the fabric to move freely without bunching under an outer jacket.
  • Washing and knit care. Machine wash on a gentle cold cycle with mild detergent or dry clean. Lay both pieces flat on a towel away from direct heat to dry so the knit retains its original length and shape.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.

  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
