What we would tell you in the studio
- High mock neck. The knitted neck stands up without folding over. It holds its shape through a full day of wear and keeps cold drafts off your throat.
- Lantern sleeve shape. Each sleeve widens along the forearm before narrowing into ribbing at the wrist. This gives the arms volume without letting the cuffs slip over your hands.
- Roomy straight cut. We gave this dress a loose geometry that sits away from the body from the chest down to the mini hem. It works over tights or layered under heavy winter coats.
- Washing and care. Hand wash in cold water or run on a gentle cycle inside a mesh laundry bag. Lay it flat across a drying rack so the weight of wet yarn does not pull the knit out of shape.
Living with this one
Do
- Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
- Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
- Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
- Read the size chart on the partner page before you settle on a size.
Skip
- Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
- The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
- Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
- Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
