What we would tell you in the studio
- Open neckline. The collar is cut wide and open to leave the throat clear. It sits flat against the skin without bunching, holding its shape as the knit shifts with movement throughout the day.
- Straight sleeve cut. The sleeves run long down the arm in an even, straight line. They end cleanly at the wrist without tight binding, so you can push them up the forearm if you want.
- Long straight hem. We let the body drop straight from the torso down past the knee toward the ankle. The weight of the lower knit pulls the fabric downward, keeping the column shape tidy.
- Washing and care. Wash in cold water on a gentle cycle, preferably inside a mesh laundry bag. Avoid bleach and hot irons. Lay the dress flat across a drying rack so the weight of wet yarn does not pull the hem.

Do
- Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
- Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
- Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.

- Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
- The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
- Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
