What we would tell you in the studio
- Smocked bodice and V neck. The bodice uses fine elastic thread woven through the knit to create a flexible smocked panel that sits close. The V neckline stays flat and open at the collarbone.
- Flutter sleeve cut. We cut the sleeves wide and loose so they flare over the shoulder rather than hugging the upper arm. The raw drape gives the sleeve its flutter shape without stiff seams.
- Lined skirt with pockets. The lower skirt carries a soft inner lining that keeps the pale yellow yarn opaque in daylight. We placed two slip pockets directly into the side seams for small items.
- Washing and care. Wash on a gentle cycle in cold water with similar light tones. Lay the dress flat to dry so the smocking holds its tension and the skirt keeps its straight hem.

- Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
- Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
- Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.

- The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
- Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
