What we would tell you in the studio

  • Crew neck top. The top is cut with a standard round crew neckline and straight-set long sleeves. It sits clean across the shoulders without pulling and hangs loose at the waist.
  • Drawstring waist trousers. The pants feature an adjustable knit drawstring through the waistband and deep side pockets. The legs fall straight to the ankle rather than gathering at the cuff.
  • Fine gauge knit. We selected a smooth yarn blend that keeps the fabric light against the skin. It holds enough stretch for movement while retaining its shape over a full day.
  • Laundering and care. Wash both pieces together in cool water on a gentle cycle to preserve the deep black tone. Reshape the knit while damp and dry flat.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Read the size chart on the partner page before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
