We knit this two piece set as a pair so the top and trousers match in tone and gauge. The top sits loose with a plain crewneck and three quarter sleeves, while the hem rests at the hip. The trousers fall straight from a gathered elastic waist.

What we would tell you in the studio

  • Crewneck and three quarter sleeve. The top has a simple crew neckline that sits flat against the collarbone. We shaped the three quarter sleeves with extra volume through the arm, leaving the wrists free while the body hangs loose.
  • Matching elastic waist trousers. We knitted the pants from the same yarn lot as the top for an exact match. The waistband holds an elastic core that stays in place without drawstrings, and the legs fall straight to the floor.
  • Smooth yarn hand. The knit combines rayon and polyester with a touch of spandex for recovery. It feels cool and soft on bare skin, holds its shape through a full day of sitting, and packs down small in a bag.
  • Washing and care. Wash both pieces together in cold water on a gentle cycle so the colour stays identical across the set. Reshape the top while damp, lay both garments flat on a towel, and store them folded.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Read the size chart on the partner page before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
