What we would tell you in the studio

  • Ribbed knit texture. The knit runs in narrow vertical ribs from collar to hem. This ribbing gives the pieces lateral give so they move easily without losing their straight vertical lines.
  • Crew neck top. The short-sleeve top is cut with a standard crew neckline finished in self-knit binding. The body falls straight to a clean bottom hem without extra gathering.
  • Straight leg shorts. We knit the shorts to drop straight through the leg. The hem lands short, leaving the thighs clear, while the elasticated waist keeps the shorts secure during daily wear.
  • Laundering and care. Machine wash on a gentle cycle in cold water with similar dark colours. Lay both pieces flat on a clean towel to dry to protect the knit geometry.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Read the size chart on the partner page before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
