We knit this dress in a warm apricot yarn with an open neckline and full-length sleeves. The body drops in a clean, straight line without clinging or pooling extra fabric, ending well above the knee. It pulls on easily over bare skin or thick tights.

What we would tell you in the studio
- Open neckline cut. The neck sits wide and open across the collarbone, leaving room for a collared shirt underneath or worn bare. We finished the edge with a low-profile rib that stays flat.
- Straight body line. The knit falls straight down from the bust to the lower hem. It bypasses the waist entirely, giving the dress a relaxed, column-like hang that moves without bunching.
- Full-length knit sleeves. The sleeves run long down to the wrist, ending in self-knit cuffs that hold their position when pushed up the forearm. The knit stretches easily through the elbow during regular wear.
- Apricot yarn care. Hand wash this knit in cool water with a mild detergent and press out the excess moisture in a clean towel. Lay it flat on a drying rack so the weight of wet yarn does not stretch the hem.
Living with this one
Do
- Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
- Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
- Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.

Skip
- Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
- The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
- Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
- Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
