We cut this two-piece lounge set from a smooth satin-finish fabric with a light hand and fluid drape. The short-sleeve top hangs away from the torso with a plain crewneck, while the matching shorts finish with a soft ruffle hem. Both pieces share the same dye lot for an exact tone match.

What we would tell you in the studio

  • Crewneck and short sleeve. The top is built with a classic round crew neckline and simple short sleeves. The body hangs loose and straight, falling free of the chest without clinging.
  • Ruffle hem shorts. The matching shorts sit on an elastic waistband and end in a light ruffle trim along the lower edge. The cut stays wide through the leg opening for easy movement.
  • Satin finish yarn. We selected a smooth yarn with a satin surface that glides against skin and layers under a morning cardigan. The weave is lightweight and cool to the touch indoors.
  • Washing and care. Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle using a mesh laundry bag to protect the fine surface texture. Reshape the set while damp and line dry away from direct heat.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Read the size chart on the partner page before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
