We designed this strapless maxi in deep blue with a gathered, elastic bodice that grips comfortably across the chest. The fabric drops into four tiers through the skirt, hanging loose away from the frame and ending at the ankle. Slit pockets sit set into the side seams for ease.

What we would tell you in the studio
- Smocked upper section. Elastic gathers give the strapless bodice its hold, sitting flush against the chest with a subtle ruffle along the top edge to keep the band secure as you move.
- Tiered skirt volume. Below the smocking, the skirt widens across four tiered horizontal seams. The cut stays loose through the length, giving the blue cloth room to fall straight to the ankle.
- Integrated side pockets. Two deep pockets are sewn directly into the side seams of the skirt. They sit flat when empty and leave the outward line of the tiers undisturbed.
- Laundering and care. Machine wash this piece cold inside a mesh laundry bag to protect the smocked elastic threads. Lay it flat across a drying rack or tumble dry on low heat.

- Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
- Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
- Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
