What we would tell you in the studio
- Convertible square neckline. Elastic along the square edge lets you wear the neck wide across the collarbones or pulled down over the shoulders. It holds its position without digging in or slipping loose during movement.
- Waist cutouts and back. Openings at the side waist break up the solid emerald knit and connect through to the back. The knit keeps its tension along the edges so the cutouts stay flat rather than curling outward.
- Short flared sleeves. The short sleeves are knit with a subtle flare that hangs away from the upper arm. This keeps air moving while providing light coverage across the shoulder.
- Ruffle hem care. The hem ends in tiered ruffles that give the straight skirt a light bounce. Machine wash in cold water using a mesh laundry bag, then lay the dress flat to dry to preserve the ruffle shape.

Do
- Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
- Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
- Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.

- Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
- The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
- Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
