What we would tell you in the studio

  • Square neck vest. The vest opens with a wide square neckline and fastens with front buttons down the placket. We added small pockets at the front and kept the armholes wide enough to sit comfortably over bare skin.
  • Roomy knit skirt. We shaped the matching skirt to sit freely at the waist and fall to a short hem. The knit has enough weight to hang straight without clinging as you walk.
  • Knitted as a pair. Both pieces are knitted from the same apricot yarn lot so the tone and stitch density match exactly. You can wear them together or split the vest over light trousers.
  • Care and shape. Wash both pieces together on a gentle cold cycle inside a mesh laundry bag. Press out excess water with a flat towel and lay them flat to dry so the seams stay true.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Read the size chart on the partner page before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
