What we would tell you in the studio
- Roomy cropped body. The torso is cut wide so the knit hangs away from the waist. Because the hem finishes short, the shape stays compact rather than heavy when worn buttoned or open.
- Open neckline and placket. A low neck band frames the collarbone before tapering into the front buttons. The placket uses matched ribbing to keep the front edge from curling inward over time.
- Short sleeve construction. The sleeves finish short with a neat bound edge. This leaves the wrists free and keeps the shoulders feeling light under an outer coat or jacket.
- Washing and flat drying. Hand wash this white yarn in cool water with a mild knit detergent. Press the water out gently between dry towels and lay it flat on a rack so the knit holds its square shape.
Living with this one
Do
- Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
- Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
- Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.

- Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
- The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
