What we would tell you in the studio

  • Round crew neck. The neckline sits close and clean in a classic crew shape. It stays flat against the collarbone, making it an easy piece to layer over collared blouses, simple tanks, or high turtle necks.
  • Longline hem. We brought the hem down past the knee toward the ankle. The added length gives the lightweight knit steady downward drape, moving freely as you walk without bunching up around the hips.
  • Roomy open cut. The body is cut wide to fall straight from the shoulders down. Deep side pockets sit neatly along the lower front panels, holding daily items without pulling the knit out of shape.
  • Yarn and wash care. Use a gentle machine cycle with cold water and lay the cardigan flat to dry. A low iron will ease out creases from storage, keeping the soft yarn smooth season after season.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Read the size chart on the partner page before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
