What we would tell you in the studio
- V-neck and button front. The neckline dips into a tidy V that leads down to a row of functional buttons. It frames a collar when layered and sits flat against the collarbone when worn alone.
- Open back detail. The back panel features an open cut below the shoulders. It introduces air into the garment and changes how the knit hangs through the waist, keeping the rear hem relaxed.
- Straight body line. We knit the torso with a clean vertical drop from armhole to hip. It does not pull tight across the chest or widen toward the bottom, giving you a steady, square profile.
- Care and handling. Hand wash in cool water with a gentle detergent or dry clean. Press excess moisture out in a folded towel and lay the vest flat to dry so the stripes stay aligned.
Living with this one
Do
- Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
- Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
- Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
- Read the size chart on the partner page before you settle on a size.
Skip
- Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
- The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
- Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
- Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
