What we would tell you in the studio
- Quarter zip collar. The ribbed collar pulls up high against the neck when zipped shut. Unzip it to fold the sides down flat over the collarbone. It gives you two ways to wear the neckline.
- Striped rib knit. We knit this in horizontal bands of nutmeg brown and white. The vertical ribbing adds mechanical stretch across the body, letting the loose shape drape straight without clinging to base layers.
- Dropped long sleeve. The shoulder seam sits low on the arm to soften the line of the sleeve. Ribbed cuffs gather the fabric at the wrist so the extra length stays put over your hands.
- Care and shape. Hand wash this sweater in cool water or dry clean it. Press out the excess water in a towel and dry it flat on a drying rack so the heavy ribs do not stretch out.
Living with this one
Do
- Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
- Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
- Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.

- Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
- The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
