We knit this dress with a straight profile that drops cleanly from the shoulders without clinging to the body. An open neckline leaves the collarbone bare, while long sleeves balance the extended hemline. It works on its own during warmer days or under a coat when the air cools down.

What we would tell you in the studio
- Open neckline shape. The wide, open neck sits flat across the front and gives the collar area room to breathe. It keeps the upper body light against the longer cut of the skirt.
- Long straight sleeves. The sleeves run down to the wrist in an even gauge. They layer neatly beneath jacket sleeves without bunching up at the forearm or binding around the elbows.
- Clean lower hem. The knit drops straight to a hem that sits past the knee. Because the weight distributes evenly through the length, the bottom edge hangs level all the way around.
- Care and wash routine. Wash this piece by hand or run it on a gentle machine cycle inside a mesh laundry bag. Skip the iron and line dry away from direct heat to preserve the knit.
Living with this one
Do
- Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
- Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
- Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
- Read the size chart on the partner page before you settle on a size.
Skip
- Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
- The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
- Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
- Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
