What we would tell you in the studio
- Crew neckline. The neck is knit as a ribbed band that lies flat against the collarbone. It holds its tension without pulling or gaping over the course of the day.
- Roomy body cut. We shaped the torso with extra ease so the fabric drops straight down. It does not cling to the waist, leaving ample space for a light undershirt beneath.
- Long straight sleeves. The sleeves are knitted with a consistent width down to the cuff. Ribbing at the wrist keeps the opening in place if you push them up your forearm.
- Cold water care. Machine wash cold inside a mesh laundry bag to protect the knit surface from snagging. Lay the piece flat on a towel away from direct heat to dry.
Living with this one
Do
- Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
- Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
- Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
- Read the size chart on the partner page before you settle on a size.
Skip
- Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
- The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
- Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
- Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
