What we would tell you in the studio

  • Crew neck top. The short-sleeved top is cut wide through the body and lands at a slightly shorter hem. A fine ribbed crewneck keeps the collar flat without stretching out.
  • Wide-leg trousers. We gave the knit trousers a generous leg width that falls straight from the hip. The waistband uses an integrated casing with an adjustable pull cord.
  • Color-block detail. Contrast blocking breaks across the knit body, knitted flat in smooth yarn so the seams rest soft against the skin without bulk or stiffness.
  • Care and washing. Wash both pieces together on a gentle cycle in cold water to keep the color panels even. Lay flat on a drying rack rather than hanging to protect the trouser length.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
