What we would tell you in the studio

  • Crew neck and raglan sleeve. The pullover features a plain round crew neckline that holds its shape. We knit the long sleeves with dropped raglan seams, giving the shoulders a soft, unconstructed line that moves easily.
  • Side slit pullover hem. The lower edge of the top lands around the hip and splits at the sides. These side slits keep the hem from catching when you sit and let the fabric drape naturally over the trouser waistband.
  • Wide leg trouser cut. Knitted in the same khaki yarn, the matching pants use an elastic pull-on waistband without hardware. The wide legs fall straight from the hip down toward the ankle with an open, fluid hang.
  • Cold cycle care. Wash both pieces together on a gentle machine cycle using cold water and mild detergent, or wash by hand. Reshape the knit and lay it flat to dry so the yarn retains its natural structure.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
