What we would tell you in the studio

  • Button placket neckline. A shallow placket opens into a soft neck with functional buttons along the center front. The band sits flat against the collarbone without pulling or rolling.
  • Roomy cropped trouser. The pants drop straight from an elasticated drawstring waistband into a wide leg. The lower hem clears the ankle so the knit hangs clear of your shoes.
  • Matching navy dye lot. We knit both pieces from the same navy dye batch so the color depth matches top to bottom. The shade stays dark and steady after repeated gentle wash cycles.
  • Gentle machine care. Wash both pieces inside out in cold water on a gentle cycle. Lay them flat on a dry towel to maintain the shape of the open hem and waistband.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
