What we would tell you in the studio

  • Crewneck and long sleeves. The top features a plain round crewneck that sits flat against the collarbone. Full length sleeves fall straight from relaxed shoulders down to self-knit cuffs, leaving room for a base layer underneath.
  • Pants with side pockets. We set deep pockets directly into the side seams of the trousers so they lie flat when empty. The legs cut straight down, giving fabric room to move naturally as you walk.
  • Drawstring waistband. An elasticated band anchors the top of the trousers, reinforced with a knit drawcord. You can tie it loose or snug to set the rise where you prefer across the waist.
  • Care and maintenance. Turn both pieces inside out before machine washing in cold water on a gentle cycle. Lay the sweater and trousers flat on a towel to dry so the knit retains its original shape.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Read the size chart on the partner page before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
