What we would tell you in the studio

  • Top and neckline. The top features a round crewneck and a tidy button placket down the front. Princess seams run through the front panels to give the straight cut a steady, defined line without drawing in tight.
  • Wide leg trousers. We shaped the trousers with a high rise and a relaxed wide leg that falls straight from the hip down. Set-in welt pockets sit flat against the knit to keep the front line smooth.
  • Matching yarn hand. Both pieces are knitted from the same smooth synthetic yarn for a consistent beige tone. The knit holds its body across hours of sitting and keeps a clean surface without clinging.
  • Washing and care. Machine wash the set in cold water inside a mesh laundry bag to protect the knit and buttons. Lay both pieces flat or hang them to dry so the knit retains its original length.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Read the size chart on the partner page before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
