What we would tell you in the studio

  • Wide open neck. The neckline slopes low in front to leave collarbones bare and give shirts underneath room to show. Ribbing edges the placket to keep the buttons straight.
  • Loose cropped body. The hem lands high on the waist, balancing the broad cut through the chest. It rests away from the hips rather than clinging or bunching.
  • Short sleeve cut. We knit the sleeves short and roomy to keep air moving. The open cuffs leave your wrists and forearms clear for easy movement.
  • Cold water wash. Wash this piece by hand or run it on a gentle cold cycle with mild soap. Lay it flat on a clean towel so the knit retains its shape.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Read the size chart on the partner page before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
