Women's Flowy Casual Mini Dresses
We cut this mini dress in a clear light blue with an open V-neck and a smocked bodice that gives with movement. The body falls straight into a short hem, while wide flutter sleeves add volume up top. A smooth lining layer underneath keeps the fabric from sheer spots without adding weight.

What we would tell you in the studio
- Smocked bodice and V-neck. The bodice uses fine smocking across the chest to provide horizontal give while staying flat. An open V-neckline cuts down toward the high waist, bordered by soft ruffle trim.
- Flutter sleeve volume. Short flutter sleeves drape loosely off the shoulder line. The cut stays open underneath the arm so the fabric moves freely without pulling at the chest.
- Lined mini length. The skirt drops straight from the waist to a short hem. We stitched in a smooth lining that covers through the body, adding structure while two side pockets sit flat along the seams.
- Washing and yarn care. Machine wash cold inside a mesh bag to keep the smocking intact. Smooth the hem by hand and lay flat to dry so the fabric retains its shape.
Living with this one
Do
- Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
- Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
- Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
- Read the size chart on the partner page before you settle on a size.
Skip
- Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
- The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
- Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
- Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
