Women's Off The Shoulder Sweater Dress
We knit this piece in a dense rib that holds close from the wide neckline down to the lower hem. The long sleeves stay fitted along the arm, and the plain black yarn gives the ribbed texture clear definition. It wears on its own or under a heavier coat.

What we would tell you in the studio
- Wide off-shoulder neck. The neck opens wide across the collarbone and rests across the tops of the shoulders. A folded knit edge keeps the line flat so it stays set in place.
- Fitted ribbed body. A continuous vertical rib runs the full length of the dress. The knit expands to follow the body and recovers its line when taken off.
- Long lower hem. The skirt continues straight down and lands well below the knee. Because the knit has weight, the hem stays down rather than riding up during movement.
- Cold wash care. Machine wash cold inside a mesh laundry bag to protect the ribbing from snagging. Lay the dress flat across a drying rack so the wet knit keeps its shape.
Living with this one
Do
- Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
- Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
- Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
- Read the size chart on the partner page before you settle on a size.
Skip
- Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
- The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
- Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
- Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
