Leather Skirt Pencil Skirts for Women Fall Skirts

We cut this short skirt from a flexible faux leather in deep winered and backed it with a smooth lining. The straight profile keeps a neat line down the hips without clinging. A split at the front hem gives you room to take a full stride.

What we would tell you in the studio

  • Cut and split hem. The skirt falls straight through the hips to a short hemline. A front split allows natural movement through the legs while keeping the outer edge clean and level.
  • Lined shell construction. A flexible outer shell provides the structure and soft sheen of leather. Inside, a smooth woven lining rests against tights or bare skin so the fabric glides as you walk.
  • Winered dye. The winered finish gives the surface a deep, saturated tone. It pairs easily with ribbed cream knits, dark cardigans, or fine gauge crewnecks in neutral tones.
  • Care and maintenance. Wipe the surface with a damp cloth for spot cleaning, or hand wash the piece in cold water. Hang it to air dry rather than using heat.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
