What we would tell you in the studio

  • Wide shoulder line. The broad neckline rests flat against the collarbone and can be pulled toward one shoulder. It gives the upper body an open, unconstricted shape.
  • Roomy cropped body. We cut the torso wide so the fabric hangs straight down without clinging. The hem ends higher on the waist, matching up naturally with high-rise knit bottoms.
  • Short sleeve drape. The sleeves are cut loose and finish mid-bicep. They allow air to move easily and slide into light jackets without bunching up at the underarm.
  • Washing and care. Wash on a gentle cycle in cold water with similar dark tones. Reshape the neckline while damp and lay flat to dry so the knit keeps its shape.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
