What we would tell you in the studio
- Crewneck button front. The rounded collar sits close to the base of the neck with small matching buttons down the placket. Fasten it fully for a neat knit shirt profile, or unbutton it over high-waisted trousers.
- Cropped straight hem. We cut the waist short so the ribbed edge rests right at the belt line. Because the sides do not taper inward, the hem sits loose over skirts and denim without bunching up.
- Short sleeve coverage. Set-in short sleeves finish above the elbow with fine-rib cuffs that hold their shape. The armholes give you room to move without adding excess bulk under heavier jackets.
- Care and washing. Wash in cold water on a gentle cycle with mild detergent, or hand wash to protect the button joins. Press out excess water with a towel and lay the knit flat to dry.
Living with this one
Do
- Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
- Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
- Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
- Read the size chart on the partner page before you settle on a size.
Skip
- Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
- The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
- Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
- Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
