Striped Set for Women Two Piece Lounge Sets Summer Outfits

Horizontal bands of black and warm apricot run across both pieces of this matching lounge set. We knit the top with a simple round crewneck and dropped long sleeves, while the bottoms hang straight and finish down near the ankle. The whole cut sits loose and away from the body.

What we would tell you in the studio

  • Black and apricot stripe. We knit the horizontal stripes directly into the fabric rather than printing them over finished yardage. The alternating bands of dense black and soft apricot match across the body and down the long sleeves for an unbroken pattern.
  • Crewneck and sleeve cut. The round neck is bound flat with fine ribbing so it keeps its circle. Long sleeves fall from a wide drop shoulder, giving the arms extra room before finishing in a clean, self-start cuff.
  • Straight long hem. The lower piece sits comfortably on the waist and falls straight down through the leg to an ankle-length hem. The fabric has natural four-way stretch, so it moves easily when walking and settles back when sitting.
  • Laundering the set. Wash both pieces together on a gentle cold cycle to keep the stripes aging at the exact same pace. Lay them flat on a towel to dry so the long legs and sleeves do not stretch out on a line.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Read the size chart on the partner page before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
