What we would tell you in the studio
- Double layer knit. We use a double-layered knit construction for this piece. It creates a dense, opaque hand with gentle recovery that hugs the body evenly without thinning when stretched.
- Crew neck and long sleeves. The neckline is a clean round crew that sits flat against the collarbone. Full-length sleeves follow the line of the arm down to a simple turned edge at the wrist.
- Straight long hem. The lower edge falls straight to the lower calf or ankle. Because the knit sits close through the hips and legs, the long column holds its clean line as you walk.
- Washing and care. Wash on a cold machine cycle inside a mesh laundry bag to protect the fine surface. Tumble dry on low heat or lay the dress flat across a drying rack to hold the length.
Living with this one
Do
- Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
- Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
- Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
- Read the size chart on the partner page before you settle on a size.
Skip
- Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
- The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
- Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
- Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
