Womens Long Johns Thermal Underwear Set

We knit this two-piece set as a base layer for cold weather. The crewneck top sits straight through the body with long sleeves, while the matching bottoms sit flat against the waist and ankles. Both pieces use a smooth, flexible knit that layers cleanly under heavier knits and trousers.

What we would tell you in the studio

  • Smooth crew neckline. The collar is bound flat in a simple round crew that rests against the collarbone. It stays low enough to remain hidden under sweaters and cardigans.
  • Straight long sleeves. The sleeves follow the arm in a close, straight line down to the wrist. The self-fabric cuffs sit flush against the skin so sleeves of outer layers slide on without catching.
  • Close base layer fit. We cut both pieces to follow your frame without squeezing. The knit holds enough stretch to move with you during outdoor wear and recovers its shape after hours of movement.
  • Washing and care. Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle with similar dark items. Lay the pieces flat to dry to protect the knit stretch and maintain the shape of the waistband and cuffs.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Read the size chart on the partner page before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
