What we would tell you in the studio

  • Smocked chest and neckline. The square neck sits wide across the collarbone. Tight elastic smocking grips the upper body closely before releasing fullness directly into the lower hem.
  • Ruffled strap finish. Wide tank straps stay in place on the shoulder. Small gathered ruffles line each edge to give the open neckline clean definition.
  • Cropped peplum hem. The lower body flares outward in a roomy cut that hangs away from the waist. The hem finishes high on the hip for easy pairing with high-rise bottoms.
  • Cold wash and flat dry. Machine wash on a gentle cycle inside a laundry bag with cold water. Lay the piece flat to dry so the smocking holds its stretch and texture.
