What we would tell you in the studio

  • Crewneck and tie closure. The top starts with a rounded crew collar that feeds into an open front secured by knit ties. You can knot them tight or leave them loose over an undershirt.
  • Dropped sleeve profile. The raglan armholes drop low across the shoulder line. This cut leaves ample space through the upper body and avoids bunching when layered beneath a heavier travel coat.
  • Drape and weight. Knitted with a loose gauge that drapes straight down rather than clinging to the skin. The fabric moves freely while walking and settles back into shape when seated.
  • Yarn care. Hand wash the set in cool water using mild soap to protect the knit structure and dye lot. Reshape both pieces and lay them flat on a towel away from direct heat.

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.

  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
