2 Piece Sets for Women Summer

We knit this two piece set in a fine gauge black yarn that hangs away from the skin. The top has short sleeves and a plain round crew, while the matching shorts pull on with an elastic waist. Both pieces share the same dye lot and flat knit surface.

What we would tell you in the studio

  • Crewneck and short sleeve. The top features a banded crewneck that lies flat against the collarbone. Short sleeves cut straight from dropped shoulders give the arms plenty of room to move without binding.
  • Split cropped hem. The body lands short and square, with small side splits at the hem so the knit clears the waistband beneath. It hangs loose rather than pulling against the hips.
  • Wide leg short. We knit the matching bottoms with an elastic waistband and wide legs that fall away from the thigh. The yarn has enough weight to keep the shorts hanging straight down.
  • Washing the pair. Wash both pieces together by hand in cool water so the black tone stays uniform across the set. Lay them flat on a towel to dry so the knit retains its shape.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
