What we would tell you in the studio

  • Round crew neckline. The neck is bound with a flat knit crew band that sits level against the collarbone without stretching out of shape. It pulls over easily and rests clean beneath a heavier jacket.
  • Top and short proportions. The long sleeves balance the shorter hem of the top, which meets the waistband of the relaxed shorts. The shorts use an adjustable drawstring cord to set the waist right where you want it.
  • Navy knit yarn. We use a smooth knit with natural give for both halves so the tone matches exactly. The knit has enough body to hold its boxy shape rather than cling, keeping its texture through regular wear.
  • Washing and drying. Wash this set on a gentle cycle in cold water with similar darks to protect the navy dye. Reshape the top and shorts while damp, then lay them flat on a drying rack to dry.

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
