What we would tell you in the studio
- Collared v neck. The knit collar sits high at the neck and opens into a v with contrast trim and small buttons. You can button it shut or leave it open over bare skin or a base layer.
- Roomy tunic length. The hem falls long and loose, dropping below the knee without pulling tight across the seat. It hangs straight down and lets the midweight yarn move as you walk.
- Smooth yarn hand. We chose a fine viscose blend yarn that feels cool and silky to the touch. The knit has enough weight to drop straight without clinging to the layers underneath.
- Washing and shape. Wash by hand in cold water or use a gentle cycle with a laundry bag. Lay the knit flat on a towel to dry so the collar and long body keep their shape.
Living with this one
Do
- Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
- Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
- Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
- Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.
Skip
- Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
- The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
- Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
- Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
