What we would tell you in the studio

  • Waist and closure. A hidden button placket and zip fly keep the front clean. Belt loops with small button details sit along the waistband, while hidden elastic through the back provides give across a day of sitting and moving.
  • Leg cut and drape. The legs cut wide from the hip down, falling in a clean vertical line. Running vertical front seams give structure to the drape, and decorative welt pockets finish the back without adding bulk.
  • Stretch woven hand. Woven with four-way stretch, the material has a dense, smooth face that resists creasing. It holds its tailored shape while moving easily, making it a reliable base under our knits.
  • Pockets and wash care. Deep side pockets sit along the side seams for everyday utility. Machine wash cold inside a mesh laundry bag to protect the hardware and stitching, then lay flat to dry or tumble dry low.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
