What we would tell you in the studio

  • Bootcut flare and pintuck. A stitched pintuck runs straight down the front of each leg to anchor the drape. The knit widens below the knee into a balanced bootcut hem that falls cleanly over flat shoes or boots.
  • Waistband and pocket construction. The waist combines an elastic band with a zipper closure to stay in place without bunching. Two inset side pockets are knitted flat into the seams to hold small items without adding bulk.
  • Dense knit recovery. We use a smooth, springy yarn blend with strong recovery so the knees and seat keep their shape across hours of sitting. The deep coffee shade is dyed across the whole yarn lot for even tone.
  • Washing and care. Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle with like colours. Tumble dry on low heat or hang them straight to dry to preserve the leg crease and the elasticity in the waistband. Use a cool iron if needed.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
