What we would tell you in the studio

  • Waistband and hidden closure. A concealed button keeps the front placket flat across the waist. Belt loops are stitched along the top edge, and deep pockets sit clean into the side seams without pulling open.
  • Leg cut and pleats. Front pleating feeds extra room through the thigh before dropping into an open hem. The fabric carries enough weight to hang straight down rather than cling around the calf or ankle.
  • Cloth and yarn stretch. The yarn blend gives this woven trouser a soft, supple hand with horizontal give. It recovers its shape after hours at a desk, keeping the front crease and hemline intact through the day.
  • Washing and fabric care. Turn inside out and wash on cold inside a mesh laundry bag. Lay the trousers flat to dry to keep the leg line straight and preserve the deep black colourway without heat wear.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
