What we would tell you in the studio

  • Cotton knit structure. We knit this in a substantial cotton yarn with a tight, even surface. It has weight in the hand but stays cool against bare skin, letting air pass through the knit during warmer days.
  • Crew neck and pocket. The top is built with a simple banded crew neckline and long sleeves that finish in ribbed cuffs. A front pouch pocket sits across the lower body, cut from the same knit.
  • Tapered pull-on trousers. The matching trousers are knitted in the same light grey dye lot. They have side pockets and a pull-on waistband, tapering gradually down to the ankle to keep the lower leg neat.
  • Care and maintenance. Wash by hand in cool water or dry clean to protect the shape of the knit. Press excess water out between towels and lay both pieces flat to dry so the hems do not stretch.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
