What we would tell you in the studio

  • Striped knit construction. Horizontal white and blue stripes run across the body and sleeves. We knit the top and trousers together so the yarn weight, gauge, and tone match across both halves of the set.
  • Crew neck and long sleeves. The top features a plain round crew neckline that sits flat against the collarbone. Full-length sleeves fall straight to the wrist without tight banding, keeping the shape open.
  • Wide-leg ankle trouser. The trousers hang loose through the leg and reach down to the ankle. Because the knit has weight, the fabric falls straight down without clinging.
  • Washing and flat drying. Hand wash in cool water or dry clean to maintain the knit structure. Press excess water out between towels and lay both pieces flat on a rack to dry.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
