What we would tell you in the studio

  • Eyelet structure and lining. The outer shell uses open eyelet stitching to build geometric pattern into the fabric. Underneath, we add a smooth jersey lining through the body so the garment remains entirely opaque without adding heavy bulk.
  • Smocked waist and tiering. An elastic smocked band gathers the waistline with gentle stretch before releasing into a tiered lower section. The skirt hangs loose and finishes short, keeping the cut breezy and off the legs.
  • V-neck and short sleeves. The neckline opens into a sharp V that lies flat across the collarbone. Short, roomy sleeves sit high on the arm, allowing clean airflow and unhindered movement through warm afternoons.
  • Care and maintenance. Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle to protect the fine eyelet embroidery and elastic thread work. Lay the piece flat on a towel to dry, avoiding hot tumble cycles that can distort the smocking.
