Womens Eyelet Dress Summer Mini A Line Boho Beach Vacation Outfit

Open eyelet work forms the outer shell of this short dress, backed by a soft inner lining. We cut it with an open V neckline and short sleeves, balanced by a smocked waist that gathers the fabric before it releases into a tiered mini skirt. The body hangs free below the elastic band.

What we would tell you in the studio

  • Open V neck and sleeves. The open V neckline gives the collarbone room, while the short sleeves provide light upper arm coverage without tight binding at the edge.
  • Smocked waist band. An elastic smocked section pulls the fabric inward at the middle, creating light gathers that let the tiered mini skirt release freely below.
  • Lined eyelet fabric. The outer shell features an openwork eyelet pattern. We stitched a smooth lining beneath the body to keep the white fabric opaque through the torso.
  • Washing and care. Machine wash cold inside a mesh laundry bag on a gentle cycle. Lay the piece flat on a towel to dry so the smocking and hem keep their shape.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
