What we would tell you in the studio
- Smocked upper band. The upper section uses gathered elastic rows across the back to hold the strapless bodice in place without pulling, while the front panel sits flat across the chest.
- Length and hem. The fabric drops straight from the gathers down to an ankle-length hem. It hangs away from the legs, allowing air to pass through as you move.
- Side seam pockets. We set pockets into the side seams so they sit flat when empty. They give you a place to rest your hands without altering the line of the skirt.
- Care and washing. Machine wash cold inside out on a gentle cycle, using a mesh bag to protect the smocking. Hang to dry out of direct sunlight to protect the print.

Do
- Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
- Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
- Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
- Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

- Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
- The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
- Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
