Womens Peplum Babydoll Tops Flowy Ruffle Pleated Clothes

We knit this sleeveless piece from a light rayon and linen yarn blend that stays soft against bare skin. The straight cut sets into vertical chest pleats before opening into a gathered peplum flare at the hip. A plain crew neck keeps the upper edge tidy under jackets.

What we would tell you in the studio

  • Rayon linen yarn. The fine gauge knit blends rayon and linen for a dry, light hand that does not scratch. It holds gentle drape through warm days without feeling stiff.
  • Pleated peplum hem. Vertical pleats run down the chest into a high seam, where the fabric opens into a soft flare. The hem lands around the hip line.
  • Crew neck cut. A neat round crew neck band sits flat against the collarbone. The armholes are cut close to the underarm to avoid gaping when you move.
  • Washing and shape. Hand wash in cool water or use a gentle cycle inside a mesh laundry bag. Lay the top flat to dry so the pleated hem keeps its shape.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Read the size chart on the partner page before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
