Womens Quarter Zip Striped Oversized Fall Sweater

We knit this quarter zip with clean horizontal stripes across the body and sleeves. The cut is broad and loose, letting the fabric drop straight from dropped shoulders down to the hip. Pull the metal zip closed to form a stand collar, or leave it open to turn the neck down into a wide spread collar over a tee.

What we would tell you in the studio

  • Convertible quarter zip. The ribbed collar adjusts with a metal zipper. Fully closed, it sits upright around the neck for extra coverage. Halfway down, it opens into a neat split collar that lays flat against the chest.
  • Dropped shoulder line. We set the shoulder seams well below the natural shoulder to build extra volume through the chest and upper arm. The long sleeves narrow into ribbed cuffs that stay in place at the wrist.
  • Horizontal stripe knit. The contrasting white and black stripes run consistently across the front panels and through the sleeves. The ribbed stitch provides moderate horizontal give while keeping the pullover structured along the lower hem.
  • Yarn care. Hand wash this knit in cool water with a mild liquid soap, or dry clean it. Press out excess water between clean towels and lay the sweater flat to dry so the weight does not pull the body out of shape.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
