What we would tell you in the studio

  • Cotton knit structure. The light cotton yarn gives this top a smooth, cool touch against bare skin. It holds enough body to retain its boxy shape rather than clinging.
  • Cropped boxy cut. The body is cut wide and drops straight down to a higher hemline. This proportion sits cleanly over high-rise knit trousers, shorts, and skirts.
  • Neck and sleeve trims. A plain round crewneck is finished with narrow ribbing that sits flat against the collarbone. The short sleeves end with matching ribbed cuffs.
  • Washing and shape care. Hand wash in cool water with mild soap, or run on a gentle cycle. Reshape the knit while damp and dry it flat to preserve the horizontal stripe alignment.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Read the size chart on the partner page before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
