What we would tell you in the studio
- Wide leg shape. The cut stays roomy through the thigh and drops straight down to the hem. The knit has enough weight to keep its line without clinging as you walk.
- Stretch waistband and closure. We built an elastic core into the back waist and finished the front with a classic zipper. It sits flat under tucked-in knits or loose hems.
- Pocket depth and placement. Two side pockets sit flush along the outer seams. They are cut deep enough to hold a phone without pulling at the side lines of the trousers.
- Care and maintenance. Wash on a cold cycle and tumble dry on low heat. The knit yarn resists wrinkling in a suitcase and holds its navy tone after repeated laundering.
Living with this one
Do
- Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
- Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
- Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
- Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.
Skip
- Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
- The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
- Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
- Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
