What we would tell you in the studio

  • Crewneck and side slits. The top is built with a simple rounded crew neckline that sits flat against the collarbone. Side slits at the lower hem give the knit room to move over the matching trousers without catching.
  • Wide leg knit trousers. We cut the trousers loose through the leg with a straight, wide opening at the hem. Inset side pockets sit flat against the knit when empty and hold small daily items.
  • Lightweight black yarn. The knit is smooth and lightweight against bare skin, dyed in a deep black that matches across both pieces. It has natural give that relaxes as you wear it through the day.
  • Wash and care. Hand wash both pieces together in cold water using a mild detergent to keep the black tone even. Reshape the top and trousers while damp, then dry flat away from direct heat.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
